LOL @ the silly fanatics

Photobucket

Alrighty.... once again people who read a book or watch a movie are falling into Satan's grasp and risk going to hell.
You can read their nonsense here... www.crossroad.to/articles2/08/twilight.htm

I knew there were probably religious groups out there that were making a fuss about the movie Twilight, but I hadn't really paid much attention. Tonight I was searching around at info about role playing games and came across this webpage about the dangers of reading the Twilight books. This group claims that by reading these books it makes kids want to dabble in the occult. And by doing that they open the door for Satan to do his work through you. I see this group, as all fanatical groups like it, has twisted things to work for them. Take what they say about the Hindu Goddess, Kali. With their way of thinking, if it looks scary and evil- then it is scary and evil. Kali is not evil... www.sanatansociety.org/hindu_gods_and_goddesses/kali.htm they just want people to think she is because she looks the part.

I think it's just ridiculous the way these groups are. Follow their ways or go to hell. They know what's best for everyone.

I haven't read the Twilight books or seen the movie. I'm not really into teenage vampire love stories. But I really don't think it's going to lead me to hell if I did read them. I would worry more that it might make me do something weird like this...

My "Super" pants

I said in an earlier post I'm a Superhero Nerd. I really shouldn't call myself a Superhero Nerd, if I were one I would know everything there is to know about Superheroes and their powers. I really like them, but I'm not fanatical about them. Not that that's a bad thing, I just don't have all the time in the world to dedicate to them and I wouldn't want my hubby to feel bad that I focus so much attention on them rather than him. So I'm just... a casual Superhero hobbyist... how's that to describe it?

The Superman DVD's weren't the only "super" items I received for Xmas. I also am the happy owner of some DC Comics sleeper pants and boxers (that I'll be wearing for shorts) LOL!

I snapped a pic of the pants while sitting here...

Remembering Hypatia

This poor woman was dragged inside of a church and ripped apart by christians because she was a Freethinker. She was a very intelligent woman and that was a huge no-no in the eyes of the church.

UFO

Those of you out there that know me, know that I'm a UFO believer. I've seen too many weird things in the sky to think that we are all alone in our vast Universe. I'm going to post a pic I drew of a UFO I saw in the mid 90's, I think it was 1994 or 95. I remember seeing the UFO but not much else. I was outside standing under a tree on the side of my house. I looked up and coming over my neighbors house just above the tree line was this huge UFO. It was at least as big as my house. It was triangle shaped and black with very large and bright white lights on the front of it. I remember my very first thought was "Oh my god there's a Mack Truck in the sky!!" it was completely silent, no humming noise or feeling of vibration in the air. As it went over me I was both in awe and scared out of my mind. I wanted to get a picture of it so I ran into the house for the camera, which only took a few seconds, and when I came back outside the UFO was gone. I looked in every direction, but it was gone. What was weird about the UFO (as if seeing a UFO wasn't weird in itself) was that when most people see a triangle UFO it's flying so the point is the front of the ship. This one had the wide part as the front... unless, the UFO was flying in reverse??

Here's the UFO I saw...

Some people collect stamps, some collect sports cards, or marbles, rocks, buttons... etc. etc. etc.... I collect DVD's.

I decided that since I have two weeks off I would go through my movies and alphabetize them. I'll list the movies and TV shows I have on DVD. I didn't list the workouts, video games, music videos or sports shows. Counting the movies I have 559. Some of the DVD's I have listed are boxed sets with multiple movies in them, I didn't list each movie on some of the sets because there's too many movies in it to sit there and type out each one. Some of the sets that have 3 or 4 movies I typed out. So 559 really isn't an accurate count, I actually have more than that. I know some movies are listed more than once, I have more than one copy of some and some are included in different boxed sets. And when you see movies with slashes between them, that means they are in a boxed set.

Here's my list in alphabetical order...

Xmas game

For Xmas at my mom's this year we decided to play a gift exchange game. Everyone bought a $20.00 gift and wrapped it. Then when the game starts the gifts go in a pile in the middle of the floor. Each person rolls dice and if they get doubles they can choose a gift. Once everyone has a gift we open them and show everyone else what we got. Now the fun starts, we have to roll the dice again, but this time if you get doubles you can switch gifts with someone if you like their gift better. There is a twenty minute time limit and once the alarm goes off the game is over and whatever gift you're left with is the one you keep. We decided at Thanksgiving dinner to play this game at Xmas and were told at that time that you should buy a gift that you want for yourself and try to keep it during the game. So, that's what we did. My hubby was the only one of the four of us that didn't get his own gift at the end of the game. It was a fun game, but very stressful because I really did want my own gift and was scared to death someone was going to take it. Lucky for me, I'm the only Superhero nerd in the family...LOL!! While out shopping I happened to come across a 4 pack DVD of Superman movies.
Photobucket

I've been wanting to get all the Superman movies for a while now, but every time I see one it's really expensive. I could not believe it when I saw this one DVD left on the shelf for only 15 bucks!! I grabbed it and yelled "AH-HA I GOT MY GAME GIFT!!" I think a startled a few people, but oh well, I was happy. So I went over to the candy aisle and grabbed some "movie candy" and then found a gift bag... there was my gift. I was a happy, happy girl.

Then at the Xmas game when I finally got doubles I snatched up my gift bag and held onto it for dear life. When we got to the point of opening them, we all took a turn so we could show everyone what our present was. I opened mine and held up the DVD, everyone was like "oh... Superman" not really showing much enthusiasm, so I thought to myself good, nobody will take my movies. But then I brought out the candy that was with it and my nephew said "OH I WANT THAT!!" I about screamed NOOOOOOO!!!! I thought for sure my movie was gone if he rolled doubles. That had to be the longest 20 damn minutes of my life!!!!! Fortunately for me though- nobody even tried to take my gift!!!

YAY!!! I HAVE ALL FOUR SUPERMAN MOVIES!!!!!!

Mexican Christmas

My step-dad brought up the idea to have a different Ethnic meal on Christmas each year rather than the same old turkey or ham dinner with all the fixings. It does seem to be the same thing year after year. It is nice to have those big dinners, but it's to the point where I have to agree with him, it's time for a change. This year we're having a Mexican meal. I have a few different things to make, mom is making the tacos and my sister and I will be making side dishes and appetizers. I usually make a veggie pizza every year so I asked my sis if she wanted me to try making a mexican veggie pizza. She said that sounded good, so I have the crust for it in the oven now. I've been chopping up veggies this evening getting things ready for tomorrow. I'll be using a cornbread crust rather than a plain pizza dough crust. Along with the veggie pizza I'll be making Tortilla Triangles, Mexican Holiday Spirals, 7-Layer Mexican Dip and Jalapeno Popper Dip.

Here are the recipes I'm going by to make my stuff. I say going by because I hardly ever follow a recipe. I usually use the recipe as a guideline and then do my own thing with it.

Mexican Veggie Pizza Recipe

Ingredients
• 2 carrots, finely sliced .
• 1/2 c green bell peppers, finely sliced .
• 2 (8 oz) packages put in the fridged crescent dinner rolls .
• 2 (8 oz) packages cream cheese, softened .
• 1 c taco sauce (I use Ortega Thick And Smooth Med (hot) .
• 1 c black olives, finely sliced .
• 1/2 c fresh broccoli, heads finely sliced .
• 1/2 c red bell peppers, finely sliced .
• 1 (1 1/4 oz) packet taco seasoning mix

Directions
• Preheat oven to 375.
• Roll out crescent rolls onto a lg. non-stick baking sheet.
• Stretch & flatten to form a single rectangular shape on the baking sheet.
• Bake 11-13 mins in the preheated oven, or until golden brown.
• Allow to cool.
• Place cream cheese in a med. bowl.
• Mix cream cheese with taco seasoning mix & sauce.
• Adjust the amount of dressing mix, to taste.
• Spread the mixture over the cooled crust.
• Arrange carrots, bell peppers, broccoli & black olives on top.
• Press down with hands.
• Chill in the refrigerator approximately 1 hrs Cut into bite-size squares to serve.

(my version will use a cornbread crust topped with a mixture of refried beans, cream cheese and taco seasoning. Then a layer of guacamole. Then carrots, broccoli, peppers, onions, tomatoes, black olives and shredded cheese)

Tortilla Triangles

Recipe Ingredients:

1 pkg. (8 oz.) Four Cheese Mexican Style Shredded Cheese
1 cup Sour Cream
1 Tbsp. Taco Seasoning Mix
3/4 cup Tomatoes chopped
3/4 cup Scallions or Green Onions chopped
3/4 cup Sliced pitted ripe Olives
1/2 cup Refried Beans
8 Flour Tortillas Soft Taco Size

Recipe Instructions:

1. Mix cheese, sour cream and seasoning mix until blended.
2. Toss tomatoes, green onions and olives in small bowl.
3. Spread 2 Tbsp. refried beans and 1/4 of the cheese mixture on each of 4 tortillas. Top each with 1/3 cup of the vegetable mixture and second tortilla. Cut each into 8 triangles. Top with additional sour cream and remaining vegetable mixture.

(I have never made Tortilla Triangles before so I'll probably follow it pretty close to the recipe)

Mexican Holiday Spirals

Recipe Ingredients:

3/4 cup Sour Cream
1/4 cup finely chopped Red Pepper
1 Tbsp. Dill Weed
1 tsp. Onion Salt
4 Flour Tortillas Soft Taco Size
8 slices Deli-Thin Swiss Cheese
1 pkg. (12 oz.) Smoked Cooked Ham

Recipe Instructions:

1. Mix sour cream, red pepper, dill and onion salt until well blended.
2. Spread 1/4 cup sour cream mixture over each tortilla. Top each with 2 cheese slices and 4 ham slices.
3. Roll tortillas up tightly. Refrigerate 30 minutes. Cut into 1-inch slices.

(These are really good. When I made them I used guacamole instead of sour cream, and america cheese instead of swiss. For tomorrow I'll be using shredded mexican blend cheese)

7-Layer Dip

I don't have any measurements for this recipe, but I have discovered it's best to have thin layers of the sour cream and guacamole. The rest you can have a thick layer of each if you want. Here are the layers in the order you put them in the pan...

1. Refried beans
2. Sour cream
3. Guacamole
4. Tomatoes (I always think of Tomatina when I see tomatoes)
5. Onions
6. Black olives
7. Shredded cheese (either plain cheddar or a mexican mix)

You just layer the ingredients and keep it chilled by putting the pan inside a bigger pan with ice in it. Then set a bowl of tortilla chips and/or corn chips next to it and munch away. This is a very yummy dip!!!

Jalapeno Popper Dip Recipe

(2) 8 oz Cream Cheese
1 c. Mayo
1 4.5 oz. can of green chillies - drained
2 ozs. diced Jalapenos or use as many Jalapenos to your taste (hot or mild)(I used the jar slice kind and only used around 10 slices diced up)
1 1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese (real not the imitation)

Mix altogether and put in a crockpot to melt and keep warm.  Serve with crackers or tortilla chips.

(I have never made this dip, my family will be my guinea pigs once again... muwahahahahaha!!! This was one of the treats brought in to school by one of the staff members-- sorry I don't remember who it was. I didn't even get to try it when it was brought in, but it sounds so yummy I have to make it!!)

I think these are so amazing. Next summer I plan on doing some night hikes to see if I can find some around here. They're found all over the world and have been around since ancient times. They were used as a light source before electricity and used to dig tunnels. Because of advice from Ben Franklin they were also used in the first submarine used in battle. Interesting stuff!!

There are people who think they are the product of radioactivity, but since they've been documented in ancient texts it has to be a natural reaction of the fungi itself. I wonder if luminescent fungi could be an explanation of the "Faerie World"? It must have been something for someone without any kind of education or knowledge of the world to come across glowing mushrooms in the middle of a dark forest. Could you just imagine what was going through the mind of the ancient people who found it?

I sure hope I can find some!!

Tattoos

It's been a while since I had my last tattoo. My hubby and I got matching ones for our 15th Anniversary five years ago. We wanted something that combined two of our favorite things so we had golfing skeletons playing on the 15th hole. My hubby loves to golf and I love Halloween so that's how we came up with the golfing skeletons. The flag on the hole represents our 15th year of marriage.

I'd like to get more tatts, but they're so expensive. I'll have to save up for the next one. I have two designs of new ones I'd like to get and I'd also like to add on to the ones I have. The new ones are an anklet and an arm band. The ones I'd like to add on to are the heart with my hubby's name in it- I want to add a couple more hearts and have our kids' names in them. And I'd like to add on to the alien head I have on my ankle. It's in rough shape though so I don't know if anything can be done with it. It was my first tatt and it has kinda expanded and blended together. I heard that when a tatt expands like this it's because too big of a needle was used. It had thin lines when it was first done, but they puffed out.

Here's a pic of my alien head tatt,

Here's my second tatt, my hubby's name in a heart,

And my third tatt I got after my dad died,

And our Anniversary tatt,

Training a German Shepherd

I was looking at the DailyPuppy.com website and found a list for training a German Shepherd...

Instructions

Step 1:
Establish yourself as leader of the pack. German Shepherds are pack dogs. They are also very large and very strong willed. If you do not assert yourself as Alpha dog, your German Shepherd will gladly step into the roll. It is very important to let your German Shepherd know that you are in control and in charge.

Step 2:
Get your dogs attention. Your German Shepherd is eager to learn but in order to learn he has to focus on you and what you are trying to teach him. Always train your Shepherd in an area that is free of distractions and make sure you have his undivided attention.

Step 3:
Be consistent. Your German Shepherd is eager to please you, but in order to do so she must understand what you want. If the rules are constantly changing, she will be confused and frustrated because she will not understand what she must do to please you.

Step 4:
Start informally training at home at eight weeks of age. Your Shepherd puppy is then old enough to learn things such as going to the bathroom outside and to not bite or jump.

Step 5:
Leash train your German Shepherd puppy at ten weeks old. This is very important because he is going to grow up to be very big and strong. If he is not trained to walk well on a leash you will find he walks you when he is an adult.

Step 6:
Attend Basic Obedience Class with your puppy when he is four months old. In class you will teach your German Shepherd important commands such as sit, stay, down and come.

Step 7:
Understand that is never too late to train a German Shepherd. Unlike some dog breeds, a German Shepherd is very intelligent and can learn throughout their entire life. A German Shepherd is never too old to train.

Tips & Warnings

To establish yourself as pack leader you should always feed your German Shepherd after you have eaten. When walking through a doorway, you should go through first and train your German Shepherd to enter behind you.
Never hit or abuse your German Shepherd to train them. Not only is this cruelty to animals, but it will lead to your dog displaying aggressive behavior towards you and others.

Get help from a professional dog trainer if your German Shepherd starts showing any signs of aggression.

VACATION!!

WOOHOO!! VACATION HAS STARTED!!

A day early too. We have a snow day today... lots of snow out there!! As long as it's nice on Monday it can do whatever it wants now. I have to take my son to his college on Monday and sit around for a couple hours waiting for him to take his last final exam. I'll probably do some shopping and pick up a couple last minute Xmas gifts.

My hubby works Saturday through Tuesday and then he's on vacation for two weeks too!! It's gonna be a great Christmas and New Year!!!!!

How much is that doggie in the window....

Photobucket

I've really been wanting to get a dog lately. I've had dogs before, but my hubby isn't a dog person at all and I have an allergy to them. I can live with the allergy, but not sure if I want to deal with my hubby if I get one. I would absolutely love to get a German Shepherd. They're such beautiful, loving, strong and obedient dogs. I just love them! I had an uncle that had German Shepherds and they were beautiful dogs.

Maybe I'm just having an early onset of empty nest syndrome. My kids are getting older, one is in college and the other is a Sophomore in high school. A couple more years and it'll probably just be me and my hubby at home. We have three cats so I don't know how well getting a dog would go. Although our cat Lars acts like he thinks he's a dog. Our son's friend even started calling him doggie. Maybe Lars would like a puppy to play with??

Another day down

Vacation is getting even closer!! Two days to go, but it may only be one day to go. We are expected to get 8-12 inches of snow with high winds Thursday night into Friday morning. If it hits us we won't be having school... EARLY VACATION!! YAY!! They are already planning on giving out pay checks tomorrow because of the chance of no school.

I have to take treats to work tomorrow. Every year they have two days of staff bringing in treats, I'm in tomorrows group. I haven't decided what to take yet though. I have sliced sausage that I'll be taking, but what else I don't know. I'm sure someone will have a cheese tray there. I was thinking of making a taco dip. It's a very yummy layered dip. But how will I keep it cold? I can't have a dip made with sour cream sitting out on the table all day. I'll have to put a pan of ice under it in the morning when I get there.

Nobody is home right now and it's nice and quiet. My hubby took our son, Beardman, to his college today because he didn't want to miss his finals. He had trouble with our Tracker yesterday not starting and he was nervous about driving it in the bad weather. It eases my mind too that Dad drove him. I have panic attacks since my car accident and the accident happened right before Beardman started driving. So my nervousness in a vehicle kinda wore off on Beardman. I really tried hard to not let it show when he was in the vehicle with me, but you know kids notice everything. He hardly ever drove after getting his license. This is really his first year that he's been a regular driver on the road almost every day. If he didn't have to drive every day to go to college he still wouldn't be driving much.

Now our youngest, Tyrone, is taking driving lessons. He went through the class last Spring and had to wait til he was 15 1/2 to get his permit. This weekend is his final lessons with the instructor and when he turns 16 next Spring he can take the Driver's Test for his license. He's fine with driving and will be driving all the time I think. The roads should be cleared off enough for him to drive alright on Saturday. He's getting some good practice driving in all kinds of weather lately.

Now I'm gonna head up and shower and get myself ready for our party tonight.

Three to go!

Three more days of work than I'm off for two weeks!!! YAY!!! It actually may be less than that if we get all the snow that's expected. I'm sure we'll have school tomorrow even if it does snow all through the night. It's supposed to be mostly sunny tomorrow, so maybe a two hour delay in the morning, but I'm sure we'll have school. I work at a school if you haven't guess that yet...lol.

I hope tomorrow night is nice. We have to go to a family dinner. It's always fun to go to this one every year, it's just us, and my hubby's dad and Aunt & Uncle. We have dinner, exchange gifts and then play games. It's fun. This year we'll be playing Apples to Apples. I've never played it, but my son has in school and says it's alot of fun.

I suppose I had better get to bed. I'm not on vacation yet...lol!!

HauntSpace

I took a little vacation from HauntSpace for a while. It was getting to be too much around there along with all the stress I was going through at home so I left for a while. Then when I came back I decided to make a clean start and deleted my profile and made a new one. I wasn't really having any problems with any people on there, I got along great with everyone. It was just the combination of what I was going through in my personal life and then constantly reading about all the drama and so many people not getting along. It just got too frustrating and saddening to deal with. The only bad thing about starting over is I lost a few years worth of stuff on there. Ah well. I'll just have to start it all over and make it better than ever, right?

Back again

Well, here I am again over at Blogger. I used to have a page here years ago, but kinda neglected it for a while. Now I can't seem to get back on my old one so I started over.

I bought a new laptop this summer and am starting to get the hang of it. It's a MacBook Pro. My first time using a Mac and so far so good. There's alot that I really like, but there's also stuff I miss from my old PC.

Since I've been gone from Blogger I've made a couple MySpace pages, a HauntSpace page and a FaceBook page. I'm not too thrilled about FaceBook, but there are some features I like so I'll keep it.

I can't believe how much I have forgotten how to do here. I can't even remember how to post a pic in the blog!! I'll have to go visit Ladyhawker's blog and see if she can help me.

But for now, I'm going to kick back and watch a movie. I'll figure this stuff out later.
